Something strange is happening in Gideon Falls. When a local folk legend, The Black Barn, starts appearing in the middle of the fields during a string of mysterious deaths and murders, the local priest is left scrambling at his new post to figure out what is causing this path of carnage. Meanwhile, a man whose conspiracy theories about a hidden evil in the city’s garbage may not be as crazy as he seems, and may even be the key to solving both a decades-long disappearance in Gideon Falls and the strange effects of the Black Barn.
“Gideon Falls” is an Eisner Award-winning supernatural horror graphic novel for adults made by the creators of the Bone Orchard Mythos series. The art in the book is fantastic, utilizing color and panel-layout in a way that makes scenes more tense and the effects of the barn itself more surreal. The characters are also all interesting and well-developed, and their interactions and reactions feel natural for the terrifying circumstances they’ve been put in. The story itself, and the mysterious Black Barn, are compelling with enough questions and answers to always keep you guessing. I would highly recommend this series to any comic or graphic novel fan who’s looking for something a bit different and darker than your mainstream superhero comics, and to any horror fan looking for a new interesting read.
