Haverhill Public Library is a member of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC), a member-driven and member-governed library network serving 36 public libraries in the greater Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts.  Residents of these municipalities may register for a library card with their hometown library, then use that library card at any of the other 35 libraries.  A regular delivery service between the libraries also allows holds to be placed on items owned by other MVLC libraries which can then be picked up at the patron’s home library.  To place holds on another library’s collection, search the catalog here and log in with your Haverhill Library card number and PIN (default PIN is the last 4 digits of your phone number).  If you have questions about placing holds or how to use your Haverhill Library card at other MVLC libraries, call us at (978) 373-1586.

There are other consortiums throughout the state of Massachusetts which provide similar services to their residents as MVLC.  If MVLC libraries do not have what you are looking for, we can help you search the rest of the state using the Commonwealth Catalog (ComCat).  Only Haverhill card holders can request items through the Commonwealth Catalog with us. Those items must be picked up in Haverhill. If you have a card from another library contact them to use the Commonwealth Catalog. Keep in mind that items coming from outside MVLC can take longer to arrive and usually cannot be renewed.  If you have questions about how to use ComCat or would like help placing requests, give us a call at (978) 373-1586 x608 or email reference@haverhillpl.org.
