Based on one of Jane Austen’s more light-hearted novels, “Emma” focuses on a well-to-do socialite who considers herself an expert in match making. If only she could stop meddling in other people’s affairs long enough to sort out her own personal life.
This movie is absolutely stunning. All of the scenery is lush and captivating and one of my favorite aspects, the costumes, are done beautifully. Anya Taylor-Joy is delightful and has amazing chemistry with the rest of the wonderful cast. I was surprised at how much this movie made me laugh, Bill Nighy is as clever as always.
Even if you do not typically like period piece movies or classic adaptations I think there was enough of a modern twist in this adaptation to appeal to a wide audience.
