Showtime’s Yellowjackets is about a high school girls soccer team in 1996 whose plane crashes in the wilderness on their way to nationals. Stranded for 19 months, the girls must find ways to survive. Also, there might be something…supernatural out there?
The show also takes place 25 years later and shows some of the girls as adults. One of them receives a mysterious postcard with an odd symbol, the same symbol they would see in the woods when they were stranded. Weird things are happening to the survivors and they’re all being drawn back together.
This show is absolutely thrilling and I binged this first season in just a few days. I love the back and forth between timelines and the casting is absolutely perfect. Melanie Lynskey is brilliant as adult Shauna, and Sophie Nélisse who plays teen Shauna is incredible. Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci are fantastic together.
Season 2 is currently airing on Showtime and there are plans for more.
