Thirsty Mermaids is the latest graphic novel from writer/artist Kat Leyh (Snapdragon, Lumberjanes). This book starts with three tipsy mermaids who have run out of beer and decide that in order to get more, they should conjure themselves some legs and head to dry land. After a night of debauchery in a human bar, they wake up hung over and dried out in an alley and quickly realize that they don’t know how to reverse the spell to turn them back into mermaids. The friendly bartender finds them and takes pity on them and offers to buy them breakfast. They tell her everything and soon the bartender lets them move in with her while they figure things out as long as they find jobs. What follows is a hilarious (and heartfelt) story of the mermaids learning what jobs and money even are, how to properly dress themselves, and other human customs that totally blow their minds.

I loved this book so much, it legitimately made me laugh out loud several times! I found the artwork to be charming and the facial expressions slayed me. The diverse cast of characters are all fantastic.
