Chika does not understand love. At least not in the sense other high schoolers seem to. She has never been in love or had a crush, and has no desire for any kind of romantic intimacy. Everyone tells her she just hasn’t met “the one,” but Chika isn’t sure that will ever happen. When Chika enters college, though, she finds herself immersed in a colorful and diverse community she hasn’t experienced before. It is here where she discovers the word for how she’s always felt: Asexual. Suddenly, Chika is not alone anymore, and with new-found confidence in her understanding of herself, she and her friends face the questions of college, love, and romance together.
This manga is a beautiful single volume comic from the creator of Mine-Kun is Asexual about what it can be like as an aromantic asexual person living in a society driven by love and romance. Chika is a sometimes soft spoken and shy character that we get to see bloom into herself when she finally discovers that she isn’t alone, and that she can, in fact live a perfectly happy life without a romantic partner. The story unfurls slowly and surely, with the sense of a slice of life comic mixed with the confusion of discovering your own identity. This manga would be wonderful for anyone who may be questioning similar things about themselves or who want to learn more about the Asexual Spectrum.
