Currently on Display: Creative Haverhill Student Art
Craftivism (craft + activism) is the act of creating through craft and using the craft to make a statement. Craftivism has also been defined as the gentle art of protest, and is way to start conversations around important issues. Creative Haverhill and the Quirky Leopard partnered together for a grant through the Massachusetts Cultural Council to offer free fiber art classes with a focus on Craftivism for teens ages 10-16. Throughout the course, teens learned crochet, knitting, embroidery, and sewing. They were then invited to create their own Craftivism project about something they are passionate about and wanted to talk about. This exhibit features the art of Gianna age 10, Ava age 13, Evie age 13, Summer age 13, and Brianna age 13.
