Amanda read Bear Came Along and this is what she thought…

Bear and his new friends go on an adventure with the help of a river. I chose to read this picture book because I enjoy reading about animals, and it is a Caldecott award winner that I hadn’t read yet. This is a cute story that was a joy to read. The illustrations use brighter colors than you would find in nature, which I loved. Some pages were fully illustrated and others were broken up into blocks to help separate the parts of the story. The expressions on the animals faces were absolutely wild. Some parts of the story do not flow smoothly, but otherwise perfection. The main theme of Bear Came Along was friendship. All the animals brave the journey down the river together and their raucous trip ends in laughter!

Who would you recommend this book to?

I think this book is a great choice for anyone. The words are not overly complicated, so it’s good for those beginning to read. The sentences are short too, so it is ideal for readers with a short attention span. This is a fun choice for reading aloud to a group or on your own. So adorable!
