Each year the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) celebrates TeenTober – a time to raise awareness and celebrate everything that libraries offer teens!
Our very own Teen Zone is a dedicated space in the library just for teens and houses a vast print collection which includes fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, manga, magazines, Spanish language materials, and audiobooks. The space also has 4 study tables and two desktop computers. Homework kits and board games are available for in-library use. Our free teen specific FYRE subscription box provides a curated reading selection and other goodies to subscribers. We are also very lucky to have a full-time Teen Services Librarian, and while she may not always be in the space, she is almost always in the building and able to help.
Several teen programs are offered every month and cater to current trends and interests. These include an anime club, gaming, crafts, presentations, and more!
Teens (ages 14-18) can also get the opportunity to volunteer at the library to earn community service hours. A scholarship program is offered to high school juniors.
The Teen Zone has an active Instagram account that posts about upcoming programs, book lists, book news, and more!
