The teen volunteer program is for those ages 14-17. Middle school students under the age of 14 may earn volunteer hours by writing reviews. For those that are 18 but still in high school, you must fill out a CORI form. 18 year olds who are out of high school should join our adult volunteer program.
There are a number of volunteer opportunities you can choose from. Please read the descriptions carefully.
Program helpers
Volunteers would assist youth services staff with the running of programs. Duties would include helping with setup (setting out chairs, putting out supplies, etc), checking in registrants, providing an extra set of hands during the program (may include helping kids complete crafts, explaining instructions, etc), clean up. This position is on an as-needed basis.
Homework helpers
Assist 3rd-6th graders with simple homework tasks. Help explain assignments and guide them through the problems. This position is semi-regular and you would commit to certain hours.
Summer lunch helper
Hand out lunches as part of the free summer lunch program. Requires at least 1 hour a week during summer break.
Shelving
This position is a commitment of at least 20 hours. Be trained by library staff on how to properly shelve books, organize shelves, and keep the collection tidy. At this time, we are not taking on any additional shelvers.
Teen Reviewer
Write reviews of any media (books, video games, movies, etc) to be shared on our website and social media. You will earn 1 hour per review and may submit up to 4 a month. You do not need to apply to participate.
