General
Britannica Library logo. Includes the word "Britannica" in blue text and the word "Library" in orange text. To the left of the name is a small box that resembles a book with a ribbon bookmark hanging out of it.

HPL provides access to Britannica Library (as in Encyclopaedia Britannica) to patrons through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. This digital resource includes sections for kids and young adults as well as a Reference Center.

The Reference Center includes articles and media on a wide variety of topics as well as biographies of notable individuals. Users can search for subjects or browse (articles and media are arranged by subject area, and biographies can be filtered according to time period, known for, national/cultural association, and gender).

Articles include information about the topic, links to other articles on different subjects, media, additional reading with relevant works on the topic, and sometimes links to primary sources and websites.

Britannica articles also provide a navigator, citation assistance, translation, font adjustment, and an OpenDyslexic option. Some also have multiple reading level options.
