8/6 | 9:30-11:30 AM | VIRTUAL 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group — Self-Assessment (“Finding Your Why”)

This week’s topic (August 6) is Self-Assessment! The Library 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group meets via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30am to 11:30am. Informal networking takes place from 9am to 9:30am and 11:30am to noon. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your “Encore Career,” this networking group program is perfect for you! Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking!

8/6 & 8/13 | Both from 2-3 PM | Internet Basics I & II

For those who have never touched a computer or have limited mouse skills, this class will introduce the basics of having a computer, mouse, and keyboard. We will also explore how to find information online and develop web browsing skills.

This is a two-part program. Session 1 is on August 6, and session 2 is on August 13. Both sessions will take place in the computer lab on the second floor of the library.

8/6 | 6-8 PM | Summer Concert Series: Matt York

Longtime New England singer/songwriter Matt York will perform songs and tell stories about the great Willie Nelson. York will focus on Willie’s long and illustrious music career that has spanned over seven decades.

Calling all fiber artists! Bring your current project(s) of knitting, crocheting, hand stitching, hand quilting, and embroidery, or whatever else, to work on in the company of other fiber arts enthusiasts! Instruction is not offered at this event but fellow attendees are always happy to offer advice when they can.

No registration needed. Drop in at any point during the 90-minute block!

The Special Collections team is happy to continue open hours on one Saturday per month! We are open August 9th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Researchers are welcome to drop in during this time without an appointment, though we recommend calling ahead if you are traveling a distance to visit. Please join us and get a little research done on the weekend!

Join the HPL Read Anything Club!

This group of anyone 18 or older will feature books across the literary spectrum – whatever genre piques your interest!

We will meet the 4th Saturday of each month. No registration necessary – you can simply pick up a book (limited copies, first come, first served) on the holds shelf in the front of the library.

Our August book will be “The Left Hand of Darkness” by Ursula K. Le Guin.

The Windham Swing Band has been providing big band music from the golden age of the big bands to the present since its inception in 1998. The 18-member group performs concerts and dances throughout the year in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine. Community and music is the focus of this group with many members staying with the band for 20-plus years.
