Long ago there was a party of heroes who went on an epic journey to save the world, and they succeeded. Now, most humans only know the stories passed down to them about this brave group who brought peace to the land. One of that group, an immortal elf named Frieren, has survived most of her companions and still travels the world in search of her favorite thing: grimoires. When you have lived for hundreds of years and expect to live thousands more, you see time differently, and Frieren is still processing her time with the other heroes and the lessons she learned from them. On her journey she brings her apprentice mage Fern, and warrior Stark. They meet others along the way and face many trials that remind Frieren of her long ago journey and teach them all lessons. There are enough puzzles to solve and monsters to fight to keep the stories interesting, but in the end this is a warm and thoughtful story about appreciating life and friends. This anime is based on a manga series of the same name.
