Welcome! Explore HPL programs that repeat on a set schedule. Here are a few things you should know:
- All our adult programs are free to attend.
- Some programs require registration, which can be done on our Events page or by calling 978-373-1586 x608. Registration usually opens at 9 AM on the first of the month.
- All programs listed here are for adults unless otherwise noted.
- Please note that specific program dates are subject to change due to library closure and program rescheduling needs. Always visit our Events page for the most updated schedule!

Book Clubs
Club de lectura HPL
Meets: 4th Saturday of the month | 10-11 AM
Join us to explore books across the literary spectrum! Simply pick up and check out a copy of this month’s book on the Holds shelf at the front of the library. Limited copies–first come, first served.
Club del Libro de Cocina
Meets: 4th Wednesday every OTHER month | 6:30-7:30 PM
We’ll all cook a different recipe from one cookbook and then bring the dishes in to share and discuss, potluck-style! What you need to do:
- Register for the next date on our Events page.
- Recoja y saque un ejemplar del libro de cocina de la estantería Holds.
- Reserve the recipe you’d like to cook by emailing programming@haverhillpl.org. Reserved recipes will be listed on the event registration page.
You can cook anything from the book except alcoholic recipes (beverages, etc.). We will provide plates, eating utensils, and napkins (feel free to bring as well). Please bring serving utensils. We cannot reheat or warm anything at the library.

Crafts & Activities
HPL Craft Class
Meets: 2 times per month | Dates & times vary | Registration required
Each month, we offer two sessions of a staff-led craft class. Please register for and attend only one of the sessions, unless otherwise noted!
Past crafts include DIY fairy and gnome houses, tie-dye, and mini watercolor landscapes.
Writing Workshop Series
Meets: 4th Tuesday every OTHER month | 6-8 PM | Registration required
Want to build your creative writing skills? Beginner and advanced writers welcome. Each session focuses on a different theme. Sessions are led by Kristen, M.A. English and Creative Writing.
Grupo de Artes de la Fibra
Meets: 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month | 6:30-8 PM | No registration
Calling all fiber artists! Bring your current project(s) of knitting, crocheting, hand stitching, hand quilting, and embroidery, or whatever else, to work on in the company of other fiber arts enthusiasts! Instruction is not offered at this event but fellow attendees are always happy to offer advice when they can. Drop in at any point during the 90-minute block!
Friday Fun
Meets: Every Friday | 10 AM-12 PM | No registration
Due to the upcoming renovation, Friday Flicks in the Auditorium is paused until further notice!
Instead, join us for Friday Fun in the Milhendler Room! Same time (10 AM – 12 PM), but different activities! Drop in for weekly for crafts, games, and other fun activities for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities! Registration is not required, but please note that the room capacity is 30 people. Drop in for a little while or the whole 2 hours!
Games
Play Mah Jongg
Meets: 1st Tuesday of the month | 5:30-8:30 PM | No registration
Drop in anytime in the 3-hour block to play Mah Jongg. Limited supplies are provided, but you may bring your own!

Join us for a night of board games at HPL! Whether strategy games, abstract games, filler games, complex and non complex alike, come and try out whatever you like. Feel free to bring your own games! All experience levels are welcome.

Tech Tuesday
Meets: 3rd Tuesday of the month | 10 AM-12 PM | No registration
First come, first served. Bring your device with you if needed! Check in at the Reference Desk for 1-on-1 tech help with:

Join us for educational lectures, interactive workshops, and other opportunities to build community around a diverse range of sustainability and climate conversations topics!
Past topics include sewing and visible mending workshops and presentations with Mass Audubon and the Haverhill Conservation Department.
