Dorothy Gentleman wakes up and realizes several things are very wrong. First, the massive interstellar ship she’s on is going through a magnetic storm, which means communication with the ship-mind is on the fritz. Second, all passengers’ minds are stored until they request to be uploaded to a new body, and Dorothy wasn’t supposed to get her new body for several more decades. And third, she’s in someone else’s body. These are all very worrying facts, but Dorothy has one thing going for her – she is one of the ship’s detectives so she is in a great position to solve her own attempted murder. This novella is a quick and fun read with a unique mystery at its heart. It introduces a new Sci-Fi world that proves that even with the astonishing technology of the future, human emotions and frailties will still cause chaos and keep life interesting.
