Haverhill Public Library cards expire every three years and can be renewed by showing proof of Haverhill address and confirming your contact information. We are required to do this as a member of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium, and the purpose is to make sure we have your most up-to-date information. You will keep your original library card, so please don’t throw it away. If you need a new card, we can replace it for you at the time of renewal. Here are the ways you can renew your library card:
- Remotely: Go to this website and follow the instructions there. This system uses an automated service that confirms your name is associated with the Haverhill address on your account. If the system is unable to do that, you will need to come in to the library with proof of address to renew your library card. Those with a special card (i.e. municipal employee, student, shelter resident, etc.) will need to come in person to renew their card. If you’re not sure what your login information is, contact the Circulation Desk at (978) 373-1586 x603 or circulation@haverhillpl.org for your options.
- In Person: Come to the Circulation Desk any time the library is open and present your library card and proof of address. This could be a state ID, a recent piece of mail, or some other official document that shows your name and Haverhill address. Staff will confirm your address in our system, check that we have the most up-to-date email and phone, and whether the way we contact you is still your preferred method (email, call, or text). You will keep your same library card or we can replace it for you if the old one is lost. It should just take a minute, then you’re good for another three years. You can also do this at any other MVLC library if that is more convenient for you, however they will not be able to replace the card for you.
- If you would like to get a new library card and renew your account at the same time, you can fill out our online card application form and a new library card will be mailed to you.
- If the remote option doesn’t work and you can’t make it in to the library right away but would like to continue to use our online resources, give us a call at (978) 373-1586 x603 or email us at circulation@haverhillpl.org with your library card number and staff can give you a one-time extension.
