SUMMER PROGRAMS

All teen programs are open to Haverhill teens who are in (or entering) grades 5 - 12 unless otherwise indicated

 

Date: Program:
1st- Teen Friends of the Haverhill Public Library Meeting
2 - 3 pm, Milhendler Room
Come join the new Teen Friends of the Haverhill Public Library.  Teen Friends help plan program and events, provide community service hours, and help raise money for the Library.  Open to students entering grades 5 - 8.

2nd- Knitting Club  3 - 5 pm, Teen Zone
Are you a knitter? Have you always wanted to learn?  Come to the Teen Knitting Club.  We meet the first Friday of each month. Crocheters are welcome too! Open to students entering grades 5 - 12.

6th- Photography: Basic Composition (Group 1)
2 - 4 pm, Johnson Auditorium
Come learn the basics of digital photography.  This is a two part workshop that will cover the nuts and bolts of composition and simple photo editing.  You must be able to attend both of this session and the Photo Editing session on July 20th to register.  We will be walking around Haverhill taking pictures, so a signed parental permission slip is required.  The series will culminate in an exhibit to be held at the Library during the month of August.  Open to Haverhill residents entering grades 6 - 12 in the fall.  Registration will begin June 28th

Join us for snacks and a lively discussion of Numbers by Rachel Ward. Open to students entering grades 9 - 12.


19th- Make Your Own Ice Cream
2 - 3 pm, Johnson Auditorium
Come learn how to make your own ice cream in a plastic bag.  We'll have a variety of flavors and toppings available so that you can enjoy your creation. Open to students entering grades 5 - 12.

Come learn how to make memory wire jewelry.  Open to Haverhill residents entering grades 5 - 12.  Space is limited.  Registration will begin July 1st.

You're the Cook! by Katie Wilton: Book Cover
26th- Cooking with Katie
2 - 3:30 pm, Cavallaro Room
Join professional chef Katie Wilton and learn how to make easy snacks and meals from her cookbook, You're the Cook! Open to Haverhill residents entering grades 5 - 9. Space is limited. Registration will begin July 1st.

Come docorate your own reusable tote bag.

Join us for snacks and a lively discussion of Incarceron by Catherine Fisher. Open to students entering grades 9 - 12.

18th- Babysitting Certification Course    *** NOTE DATE CHANGE***
9 - 4 pm, Milhendler Room
Join a professional from Beverly Hospital and learn the skills necessary to babysit. Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate from Beverly Hospital. There is a non-refundable $35 course fee per participant due at the time of registration. Open to Haverhill residents ages 11 - 18. Registration begins August 1st.

19th- Fleece Blankets for Project Linus
2 - 4 pm, Milhendler Room
We will be making fleece blankets to donate to Project Linus, a non-profit organization that provides handmade blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. Open to students entering grades 6 - 12. *Registration is required*

Join us as we celebrate the end of our 2010 Summer Reading Program, 'Think Green, Raise Green'.  We will be presenting our check to the Haverhill Gazette Santa Fund and there will be food, fun, and plenty of surprises for program participants
