New Parent/Teacher Resources
This part of the
Children's Department website is designed to highlight and promote the
numerous resources of the Haverhill Public Library's Parent-Teacher
Collection. The P-T collection is located on the second floor in the center
of the Children's Department. In addition to books, the collection includes
free videos, workbooks, books with cassettes or CD's, Theme Kits and
Parenting Kits. (P-T resources have neon yellow stickers on their spines.
) Here you will find
parenting handbooks, bibliographies of good books for children, curriculum
support, and homeschooling support.
Early
Childhood Resource Centers
Did you know that the Haverhill Public Library Children's Dept. is an Early
Childhood Resource Center (ECRC)?
What is an Early Childhood Resource Center (ECRC)? An ECRC is
a place that features a variety of resource materials for the early
childhood community. Materials are available on loan (at no cost) to
teachers, students, administrators, child care providers, parents and anyone
interested in the care and education of young children. The ECRC is
sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

Resource Centers in Massachusetts:
As an ECRC, the Haverhill Public Library Children's Department has the
following materials available to anyone in Massachusetts who is involved in
the field of Early Childhood Education.

The Haverhill Public Library has a collection of theme kits available
for daycare providers and preschool teachers. They contain books and
materials addressing a specific theme

DVD's:
The Early
Childhood Resource Center has recently purchased some DVD’s to add to our
Parent-Teacher collection. These free DVD’s are great for parents and
teachers. They are perfect for a classroom situation as they include public
performance rights which allows you to show them to a group.
The stories are
based on actual books by popular authors and hit the mark for preschool ages
as each story runs between 6-10 minutes. Some of the titles are:
Stories about Growing Up –Leo the Late Bloomer, A Weekend with
Wendell, and Joey Runs Away.
Favorite Fairy Tales -Chicken Little, The Emperor’s New
Clothes, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
The
William Steig Library - Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, The
Amazing Bone, Doctor De Soto, Brave Irene, and
Getting to Know William Steig.
